Representatives of the Green Party in Germany proposed a project to decriminalize heavy drugs in the country called "The right to get High". This is reported by RIA Novosti.
The bill deals with narcotic substances such as cocaine, MDMA and amphetamines. The authors of the project considered that the right to use drugs should be "taken for granted in a free city like Berlin."
The initiative caused a wave of criticism from representatives of other political forces. Thus, the head of the CDU in Berlin, Kai Wegner, recalled that the number of drug-related deaths is growing. "It's crazy that the state also encourages the use of heavy drugs," he concluded.
Senator for Internal Affairs of Berlin from the Party of the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD) Iris Spranger expressed a similar point of view. "I am categorically against the legalization of even small amounts of potent drugs," she said.
On July 9, it was reported that a closed party of the SPD with the participation of its former leader, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, turned into a scandal. At least eight women present at the event suffered from drugs and rape.
